Inventário Florestal Nacional - Roraima

The state of Roraima is totally embedded in the Amazon biome, and although its landscape is dominated by forests, it also includes the vast savannah region (the Lavrado) in the northeast region and the large areas of campinaranas and meadows shared with the state of Amazonas. These formations are distributed in a region of high climatic and altitudinal amplitude and are based on different types of soils in varied reliefs, a scenario that favors the diversity of species. The forests of Roraima vary greatly in their structure and composition. Most are represented by the Dense Ombrophilous Forest, which according to the location is divided into the subgroups Montana, Submontana, Alluvial and Lowland. Also large areas cover the Open Ombrophylous Forest (Submontana and lowland) formations and the Semi-deciduous Seasonal Forests (Montana, Submontane and Alluvial). The ombrophilous forests are more humid and have great shading in the interior of the forest, presenting the largest volume of wood and carbon stock. On the other hand, seasonal forests are drier, with greater light penetration due to the presence of trees that lose their leaves during the dry season ('deciduous' species), which makes them more susceptible to fires. The Lavrado is undoubtedly the most peculiar landscape of Roraima, formed by a mosaic of open areas and forest formations, where several savanna physiognomies are intersected by forest 'islands', buritizing trails and forests associated with rivers and mountains. Despite the apparent similarity with the Cerrado biome, it is a unique landscape, without corresponding in another part of the country, considered by the Brazilian government as a priority area for the conservation of biodiversity. Although more than half the region (56%) is protected within some Indigenous Lands, only 1% of the total area of the Plow is protected in Conservation Units. According to the density of the arboreal extract the savannas can be divided in the phytophysiognomies of 'arboreal', 'park' or 'grassy-woody' savannah, the last two easily seen around the city of Boa Vista. The savannas also occur in the northeastern sierras of the state, represented by the phytophysiognomies of 'forest', 'park' and 'grassy-woody'.  The vegetation of the open areas of the plow is adapted to extreme climatic characteristics, resisting long periods of drought, intense heat and high solar incidence, and being able to survive or resurge rapidly after the passage of fire. In the southwest region of the state is located the great region of Campinaranas, a type of landscape that only occurs in the states of Roraima and Amazonas. The floristic composition is very different from that observed in forests and savannas, with species adapted to the water stress caused by periodic flooding during the flood period. The company KRUGER FLORESTAL carried out the National Forest Inventory, coordinated by the Brazilian Forest Service, with the objective of collecting biophysical data from the National Forest Inventory in 269 sample registry units, systematically distributed every 20 km in the Amazon Biome in the State of Roraima, together with interviews socioenvironmental environments in households around sampled inventories, according to SFB methodology. The company was able to conduct survey in remote areas of high difficulty due to distant boat trips and long walks.
